About the Titanium Field Guide
The Titanium Field Guide is an independent reference for titanium watches. It catalogs current-production models, mechanical and quartz, from the microbrands to the maisons, and verifies each one against the maker's own specification before it is listed.
Where it started
The guide began with one person's search for a watch that would not trigger a nickel allergy, and the discovery that nothing on the web tracked which titanium watches actually keep steel away from the skin. That one question grew into a catalog of 1,600 titanium references across 319 brands, every one verified against the maker and graded for confidence. Ceramic, bronze, carbon, tantalum and brass are now held to the same standard, 2,295 references in all, so a titanium case can be weighed against the real alternatives.
How it is authored
The guide is written and maintained as an organization rather than under a byline. The trust is meant to sit in the method: every entry shows the source it was verified against, the date it was last checked, and a confidence grade, and an entry that is not fully confirmed says so in plain sight. The same verified data feeds original research that anyone is free to cite. The full standard is written out on the methodology page.
How it is funded
The Titanium Field Guide is independently owned and operated, and supported by advertising. It carries no affiliate links and no sponsored or paid placements. A brand cannot buy its way into the catalog or into a higher grade, and whether a brand advertises has no bearing on whether or how its watches are listed. A watch appears because it meets the titanium standard, and it is described from the maker's own specification and from hands-on reviews rather than from copy a brand supplied.
