Louis Brandt began assembling pocket watches in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848, and the business he started is now Omega, based in Biel/Bienne within the Swatch Group, according to Monochrome. aBlogtoWatch credits the first Seamaster Diver 300M of 1993 with helping bring tantalum into watchmaking, and the 2018 Titanium Tantalum edition returned to the idea with a Grade 2 titanium case and tantalum on the bezel base and centre bracelet links. Omega names the grade on its own pages, Grade 2 for brushed pieces such as the No Time To Die Diver 300M and Grade 5 for the Planet Ocean Ultra Deep, whose case, forged bezel and caseback Monochrome lists in sandblasted Grade 5, while the Dark Side of the Moon Speedmasters are cased in ceramic. Bronze Gold is Omega's own alloy, which Time+Tide describes as bronze carrying 37.5 percent gold, hallmarked 9K, with palladium and silver, made to sit on skin without the green oxidation of ordinary bronze.

What the catalog shows about Omega

At a $13,450 median it sits well up the market, against $1,792 across the catalog. It publishes a case weight for 63 percent of its references, against 31 percent across the catalog, which is unusually open given that weight is the spec makers disclose least.

Derived from the 30 references below, recomputed on every update, and printed only where a measurement stands apart from the rest of the catalog.
