Stowa takes its name from Walter Storz, who founded the company in Hornberg in 1927; today its watchmakers build and service the watches in Pforzheim. Jörg Schauer bought the brand in 1996 and ran it for 25 years as an enthusiasts' source of pilot's and marine watches, then sold it in 2021 to Tempus Arte, the German group that also owns Lang & Heyne. Worn & Wound's 2025 profile found the general manager, Kevin Müller, running it with a free hand and the Flieger still accounting for half or more of sales. Titanium belongs to the Prodiver, a 42 mm diver rated to 1,000 m, which won the Watchtime.net readers' vote for dive watches every year from 2013 to 2022; Stowa calls the case titanium and states no grade. Bronze runs through the Flieger and Marine lines and is always given as CuSn8, and the Flieger Olymp Bronze pairs it with the M1, Stowa's own centre-seconds conversion of the Unitas 6498-1.
