Longines watches in titanium, ceramic, bronze and carbon

Longines grew from a workshop that Auguste Agassiz set up in Saint-Imier in 1832. His nephew Ernest Francillon built the factory there in 1867, on a field known locally as Es Longines, and the brand still works on that site; it says it remains the oldest watch brand trademarked in WIPO's international registry. It has been part of what is now the Swatch Group since 1983 (Monochrome). Aviation is a long thread in its history, from the Lindbergh Hour Angle watch to the current Spirit pilot's line. Longines states that the titanium it uses is Grade 5, and the Spirit Titanium pairs it with COSC-certified calibres fitted with silicon balance springs. The Legend Diver Bronze has a bronze case and clasp over a titanium caseback. The Ultra-Chron Carbon, SJX explains, is machined from a block of unidirectional carbon fibre layered in epoxy resin and pressed under heat, with its fixed bezel and caseback in titanium.
