Chopard L.U.C Strike One (Titanium)

The Strike One was Chopard's first chiming watch, made in 2006 for the tenth anniversary of its Fleurier manufacture, and since 2022 it has used the patented construction from the L.U.C Full Strike, in which the gong and the crystal are machined from one block of sapphire, so the crystal itself is the resonator. That is why Chopard says the titanium case costs nothing in sound. It is a chime-in-passing: a single note at the top of each hour, switched on or off by a pusher in the fluted crown, with a small window at noon showing which mode is set, and no on-demand strike. The case is Grade 5 titanium, 40 mm across and 9.86 mm thick, and the dial is hand-guilloché 18k rose gold in salmon with a honeycomb centre, a nod to the bees Louis-Ulysse Chopard engraved on his movements. The micro-rotor L.U.C 96.32-L carries COSC and the Poinçon de Genève, with 65 hours of reserve. It lists at $66,600.
