De Bethune DB28xs Kind of Blue Tourbillon

De Bethune has made blued titanium its signature, and the DB28xs Kind of Blue Tourbillon is the compact version of the look: 38.7 mm across and 8 mm thick, where the earlier DB28XP Kind of Blue measured 43 mm. The Grade 5 case is mirror-polished and then blued by the brand's own thermal oxidation, so the colour is an oxide layer grown on the metal rather than a coating that can wear through. The patented floating lugs adapt to the wrist, and Monochrome found it wears with real comfort for what it is. At six o'clock sits a 30-second tourbillon whose titanium cage weighs 0.18 g, driven by the hand-wound DB2009v7 with twin barrels and five days of reserve. It lists at $225,000.
