Hermès Cape Cod Titanium

The Cape Cod is Hermès's rectangular watch from 1991, and this titanium version, released for its 35th anniversary, is the sportiest the design has been. The case is brushed rather than polished, with squarer edges and flatter flanks, and measures 33 mm wide, 41 mm long and 10.36 mm thick. WatchesBySJX found that the long lug-to-lug gives it a lot of presence, perhaps too much, and that a change of rubber strap changes its whole personality, since the orange seconds hand is the only colour on it. The straps hide their quick-release tabs in a moulded cavity, a nice detail on an open-lug case. Inside is the H1912, made by Vaucher, the movement maker Hermès part-owns, with 45 hours of reserve. It lists at $7,900 before tax, which SJX judged good value next to titanium rivals from Cartier and Louis Vuitton.
