Nivada Grenchen Depthmaster Bronze
Nivada Grenchen's original Depthmaster of 1965 was the first dive watch rated to 1,000 m, and this reissue keeps that rating, with a helium valve, in a 39 mm cushion case of CuAl8, a copper-aluminium bronze. Like any bronze it builds a patina that depends on where it is worn and on the wearer's skin, and Nivada notes it can be polished back to its original colour. The case is 13 mm thick and 47 mm lug to lug, with a black ceramic bezel, a flat sapphire crystal and the brand's Art Deco numerals on a matte black dial. The screwed caseback is 316L steel, so it is not nickel-free. Inside is the Swiss Soprod P024 automatic with 38 hours of reserve. It comes on leather, a rubber Tropic or a racing strap, at $1,845.
