Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42mm Titanium

For most of its modern life the Fifty Fathoms Automatique came in a 45 mm case, and in 2024 Blancpain made this 42 mm size part of the permanent collection, in Grade 23 titanium or red gold and not in steel. Monochrome judged that the smaller case makes a large difference on the wrist. Blancpain gives 42.3 mm across, 14.3 mm thick and 30 bar of water resistance. The domed sapphire insert over the unidirectional bezel carries over, lumed from beneath, and the sunburst black dial puts the date at 4:30 so every hour marker keeps its lume. Behind the sapphire back is the in-house calibre 1315, with three barrels in series for 120 hours of reserve and a silicon balance spring. This reference comes on rubber with a folding clasp, and Monochrome warned that the 21.5 mm lug width makes other straps hard to find.
