Rado True Square Automatic Open Heart
Plasma high-tech ceramic is how Rado gets a metallic grey without using metal: finished white ceramic parts spend several hours in a plasma oven at Comadur, where ionised gas at up to 20,000°C modifies the surface and, by Rado's account, enriches it with carbon. Here it forms the 38 mm monobloc case, the crown and the bracelet of a True Square Open Heart, all polished, with a titanium three-fold clasp and a sapphire window in the titanium caseback. The dial is grey, its cut-outs edged with rose gold-coloured bevels, with rose gold-coloured hands and twelve diamonds totalling 0.096 carat. Luxuo's 2020 launch coverage listed a plasma version from the start, which it described as bluish grey. Inside is the R734 automatic, with a Nivachron hairspring and 80 hours of reserve; the case is 9.7 mm thick and the watch weighs 120 g. It lists at $3,600.
