Ressence Type 2 (e-Crown)

Ressence, the Belgian brand, tells the time without hands: its ROCS system turns the whole Grade 5 titanium dial, a convex disc 75 mm across on the inside of the curve, with smaller satellite discs for the hours, seconds and second time zone inclined on micro-ball bearings. The Type 2 adds the e-Crown: tiny photovoltaic cells under ten micro-shutters power an electronic module that handles time-setting and a second time zone, while a customised ETA 2892/A drives the display. There is no crown at all; winding and setting are done with a lever on the caseback. The case is 45 mm across and 12 mm thick under a double-domed sapphire crystal, and the head weighs 52 g. It starts at EUR 61,900.
