Botta NOVA Automatic (Tri-Titanium)

Klaus Botta's NOVA tells the time with a single hand on a 12-hour scale, and Botta says plainly that it cannot be read to the minute; the idea is to think in spans of time rather than exact moments. The automatic version is 44 mm across, but the lugs are tucked under the dial of a plain cylindrical case, which Botta says lets it sit on fairly slim wrists, and it is 8.9 mm thick with sloped sides underneath. The head alone weighs 42 g. The case is Botta's Tri-Titanium, which uses a hard titanium alloy for the exposed top ring, a dimensionally stable one for the middle and, for the back against the skin, the very pure titanium used in medical implants. The movement is a Sellita SW200-1 in elaboré grade that Botta has a watchmaker regulate by hand over several days. A double-domed sapphire crystal tops it, water resistance is 5 ATM, and it lists at EUR 1,590.
