Bulova MIL-SHIPS Bronze

The MIL-SHIPS is Bulova's reissue of a 1957 US Navy prototype dive watch, and this special edition makes it in sandblasted CuSn8 bronze, which will darken as it ages. The original's odd detail survives: the bezel is a fixed moisture indicator rather than a rotating timing scale, meant to show if water has got in, which is why the guide files it as a sport watch rather than a diver. It is a chunky piece, 41 mm across, 16.8 mm thick and 50.7 mm lug to lug, rated to 200 m, with a sapphire crystal and a Miyota 83S0 automatic with 60 hours of reserve. The embossed caseback is steel, so it is not nickel-free. It comes on a rubber and Cordura strap with bronze hardware and lists at $1,275.
