IWC Portugieser Chronograph Ceratanium

The Portugieser Chronograph has been in IWC's catalogue since 1998, normally in steel or gold, and IW371631 is the first all-black version, made in Ceratanium in a limited run of 1,500. Ceratanium is IWC's own material, a special titanium alloy fired in a kiln so that its surface turns into a hard, dark ceramic layer with scratch resistance close to ceramic's. The case, crown and pushers are all Ceratanium, at the standard 41 mm by 13.1 mm, and the dial, applied numerals and hands are black too, on a black rubber strap with a square pattern and a Ceratanium pin buckle. Inside is IWC's column-wheel 69355 with 46 hours of reserve, seen through a grey-tinted sapphire back. Worn & Wound found it sat well on a 6.5-inch wrist but that the polished black numerals, with no lume, are hard to read in some light. SJX noted it costs half as much again as the steel Portugieser Chronograph.
