Casio G-Shock GMW-B5000TR-9 (TranTixxii titanium)

Casio spent six years with Nippon Steel developing the titanium alloy in the GMW-B5000TR-9, which is sold under Nippon Steel's TranTixxii brand and named Super-TIX20AFG. Casio says it is about twice as hard as pure titanium, and that hardness lets it take a mirror polish ordinary titanium resists, so this became the first titanium G-Shock with fully mirror-finished tops on the bezel and band. Casio used the polish to show off colour: the case is gold ion-plated, the band links and buttons are plated in red, light grey, dark grey, gold and a newly developed dark blue, and the reversed LCD carries multicoloured labels. Hodinkee Japan contrasted it with the matte GMW-B5000TB of 2019, and at about 104 g it is also a little lighter than that model's 110 g, in the same 49.3 by 43.2 by 13 mm case with Tough Solar power and Bluetooth. Casio America announced it for May 2021 at $1,700.
