Titoni Airmaster Pilot Titan

In February 1945 the US Army Exchange Service ordered 30,000 wristwatches from Felca, the Grenchen company founded in 1919 that is now the family-owned Titoni, and the Airmaster Pilot Titan is the 80th-anniversary remake. Where the originals had chromium-plated cases, this one is Grade 5 titanium, 43 mm across and 86 g according to Monochrome, finished matte with polished accents. The dial is built in two layers, with beige Super-LumiNova showing through cut-out Arabic numerals; this reference is the black dial, and the silver one is 724. Inside is a COSC-certified Sellita SW200-1 in a soft-iron cage that shields it to 500 gauss. It is water resistant to 100 m, the closed caseback is engraved with a 1940s pilot and a propeller, and it comes on a thick leather strap with a large pin buckle. Monochrome gives the lug-to-lug length as 53.6 mm, and the price is $2,300.
