Timex Marlin Jet Titanium Automatic GMT

The Marlin Jet is Timex's retro-futuristic design, and this version puts it in a titanium case with a GMT function for tracking a second time zone. The thing that makes it is the crystal: a domed piece of Hesalite, a refined acrylic, that covers the whole top of the case and wraps over the grooved bezel, so only the lugs break the outline. The screwed caseback is domed to match and has a window onto the movement. The grey concave dial carries a date beside 3 o'clock. At 40 mm across and 14.5 mm thick it sits taller than its looks suggest, and with 50 m of water resistance on a leather strap it is a watch for dry days. It costs $549. Timex confirms titanium but does not say which grade.
